Jammu: Activists of Congress and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) held separate protests here against the ongoing violence in Kashmir Valley which led to the suspension of Amarnath Yatra from Jammu.

At least 15,000 pilgrims were still stranded in Jammu for third day on Monday after the clashes began in the Kashmir Valley on Friday.
D Basavaraju, Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department and in-charge of Disaster Monitoring Cell, said that all arrangements are being made to shift the remaining pilgrims on Tuesday night.
“We are stuck for the past three days and unable to move”.
“We are so grateful to these Kashmiri people who came to our instant help and rescued us”. The pilgrims will be taken to Pahalgam and Baltal base camps later in the evening, they said, adding that the yatris are being provided all facilities there.
The Amarnath Yatra, which had been suspended for over two days, has resumed from Jammu base camp, with buses leaving the Jammu Administration department. “Recently, a BSF officer gave a quote that we plan to attack Amarnath Yatra, but we won’t”.

Four youths were killed in Bijbehara town during the protests that began in the Valley since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. “We did everything to feel them comfortable”, said a volunteer Sheikh Tasaduq Hussain. The angry protestors have been damaging the public property and scores of vehicles have been damaged in stone pelting incidents.
