Florida ups reward to $20000 for escaped murder suspect’s arrest

Meanwhile, two 17-year-old twin brothers went into the courtroom where Resiles, 21, was awaiting a hearing on whether he would face the death penalty in his upcoming trial on charges that he murdered a member of the Halliburton business family during a home invasion robbery nearly two years ago. Resiles broke free of his handcuffs and shackles and left his black and white inmate jumpsuit in the hallway of the courthouse.

A Florida death row inmate who escaped from a courtroom remained on the lam Saturday amid fears he was armed.

Resiles fled the courtroom, shed his jail jumpsuit, leapt into Stern’s vehicle and sped off, claimed Sheriff Israel.

Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said the department is “devoting all necessary resources to the manhunt” and urged anyone with information to call 911.

“The county believes that my job is to save dollars”, Israel said.

Israel said Stern and Russell waited in a getaway auto while the twins were in the courtroom Friday when the 21-year-old Resiles somehow undid his shackles, leapt a barrier and fled. She noted that Russell also had a bag that included a police uniform, vest and gun belt. The reports said police dogs sniffed the jumpsuit to obtain a scent before being employed to track Resiles.

Two bailiffs, described by Israel as unarmed citizens, were in the room at the time, but were unable to detain Resiles.

Investigators used surveillance video, jail calls and visitation logs to lead them to Stern and Russell.

He said search warrants are being served and the focus remains on South Florida, but Resilies could be anywhere. They were held without bond, NBC Miami wrote. The two juveniles face a charge of accessory after the fact to 1st degree murder. Rewards of up to $20,000 are being offered for his capture. Two other are facing similar charges, officials said.

Resiles, 21, is accused of the 2014 stabbing death of Jill Halliburton Su in the master bathroom of her Davie home.
