49ers linebacker Aldon Smith released after arrest
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is out of jail and looking for a job after the latest in a long string of arrests for the troubled athlete. Smith was arrested for drunken driving in 2012 in Miami and again in 2013 after crashing into a tree in San Jose. He will not have to walk this path alone.

The new 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula made the official announcement releasing Smith from the team. Were not anxious about football. “This has nothing to do with football”, Tomsula told reporters. Find it. It’s there… Boldin said, “For me, it’s not about football with him, it’s just making sure he’s OK as a person”. He will not be alone. We saw a man fighting, working and trying… With his struggles off the field, though, the gridiron may be the least of his concerns as he tries to get things in his life on the right track.
“He’s in the process of turning his life around, but people stumble, Tomsula said”.
Smith was released from custody on Friday after posting $26,000 bail. As Smith emerged from the SUV he was driving, his vehicle’s door hit the same auto.
In fact, after his arrest back in 2013, neither the 49ers or the league even disciplined Aldon. Police were called. They responded at 8:46 p.m., and as they were talking to the owner of the damaged vehicle, Smith returned, about 90 minutes after the accident.
The officers had a “reasonable suspicion” that Smith was under the influence of alcohol and administered two sobriety tests that “he didn’t complete satisfactorily”, Clarke said.
Smith denied he was driving under the influence during a brief interview with a local television station before Tomsula’s news conference. He told San Francisco’s KTVU-TV that there was actually no DUI and that the truth will come out.
“It hurts me because I feel I let the kid down”, Haley said. “As far as everything is concerned, it’ll work out how it’s supposed to work out”. “That’s all”. Police say Smith appeared to be intoxicated. He was charged with three counts of felony weapons possession following a June 2012 party at his home. He pleaded not guilty and the weapons charges were later reduced.
USA Today Sports’ Matt Abrams on Aldon Smith’s most recent arrest, and what it means for his career in the NFL moving forward. He followed up his first season, with 19.5 sacks in year two. Hopefully if another team were to sign him, maybe, just maybe Smith will get his act together and put on a show for the fans who attend games, not the police. In that Q&A, the now former 49ers linebacker refused to acknowledge what many on the outside fully understand regarding his situation.

“Aldon’s like any young player”, Baalke said.
