Two officers assaulted amid protests and flag burning outside RNC, Police say
Some called the police “pigs” and began shouting at Cleveland’s police chief, Calvin Williams. That has prompted concerns about the group’s intentions, Williams said.

Police say 17 people have been arrested during a chaotic protest outside the arena housing the Republican National Convention.
The only arrest that did occur was one of a woman who was picked up on a felony warrant who faces misdemeanor charges of obstruction and resisting arrest.
This was the sight in Public Square Tuesday afternoon. The Dayton Daily News reports he had an unexcused absence from electronic monitoring while meeting last week with an academic adviser. Trial is scheduled next month.
Supporters of Donald Trump and those against him shouted back and forth at one another, but nothing violent took place as far as this reporter witnessed. No more details on the arrest were immediately available.
The Cleveland Police Department said that two officers were assaulted, and received minor injuries during the protests, and that multiple participants were arrested.
The convention is a magnet for people supporting and denouncing disparate causes, from policing to immigration.
About 600 Cleveland officers were assigned to convention security duty along with thousands of officers from other agencies.
But as the gavel dropped on the Republican National Convention on Monday, the scene on the streets continued to reflect the First Amendment rather than the Second. He said he supports police and Black Lives Matter.
Speaking Monday at a Bloomberg Politics breakfast for reporters, Manafort likened the impact of disruption on images of protesters making it hard for Trump to get into one of his own events in California earlier in the year.

That gathering had more of a focus, summed up with large banners reading “Dump Trump”. He says it’s more about exercising their rights.

For a few minutes, people wearing bandanas riled things up, and then a calmness returned and remained for the day.
The city’s police chief said he spent three hours Tuesday evening riding with bicycle officers on patrol and that he waded into one confrontation because he’s “still a police officer”.

Overall, five people have been arrested since the four-day convention started on Monday, police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said late Tuesday. He said he doesn’t like Trump’s call for a ban on Muslims entering the USA, but he agrees with the GOP nominee on national security and other issues.
