Anton Yelchin Will Not Be Re-cast In Future ‘Star Trek’ Films

Star Trek Beyond is the third in the series of rebooted movies and features the returning cast of Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto and the late Anton Yelchin.

‘He had just turned 18 when we met him and he was the youngest one of the crew and I nearly feel like he was the wisest one, ‘ she said.

“Star Trek”, created in 1966 by Gene Roddenberry and celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, was the first mainstream television show utilizing a racially diverse cast, something that Elba relished watching with his parents while growing up.

“I would say theres no replacing him”, Abrams says.

“I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better”.

Paramount recently announced that they are officially developing a fourth Star Trek, with Chris Hemsworth returning as Captain Kirk’s father.

Since Chekov supposedly won’t be recast, some have assumed this might mean the character will be killed off in Star Trek Beyond.

He added: ‘I have thought about it, we’re working on it, and it’s too early to talk about it’. The actor portrayed the character in both the 2009 reboot, sequel Star Trek Into Darkness and upcoming outing Star Trek Beyond, before dying in a freak accident last month. Yet, Furious 7 actually sent Brian off into the sunset on a poignant, respectful, touching note.
