Paul Pogba approach denied by Juventus director general Beppe Marotta

Manchester United are said to have agreed a fee for the signing of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, with the possible world record transfer edging ever-closer after weeks of speculation.

Pogba has since emerged as one of the top midfielders in Europe, playing an integral part in the France side that reached the Euro 2016 final and helping Juventus win four successive Serie A titles.

The deal to bring the 23-year-old back to Manchester now looks to be nearing completion, with some bookmakers even suspending betting on the move.

In case United shell out the big amount, Juventus would get 100 million euros ($110 million) while Pogba and his agent would lay their hands on the rest 25 million euros ($27.5 million).

“I don’t confirm, I don’t deny, I can not tell you”, Mourinho told a press conference in Shanghai when asked whether Pogba is on his way to United.

United now have Juventus to negotiate with to finally get their target.

The executive vice-chairman did not travel to China for United’s week-long pre-season tour as work continues to add to the summer arrivals of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Complicating matters for United and increasing their desire to tie up the transfer quickly is a potential bid from Real Madrid, whose French manager Zinedine Zidane is a confirmed admirer of Pogba.

United are also apparently purchasing Pogba’s commercial rights while giving him an extra £4.2m a season to cover those costs.
