United set to make Pogba bid

Rumors of Pogba moving back to Manchester United have been circulating around since before the Euros, but now it seems that this weekend will be the end of the saga.

According to Fabrizio Romano and Marcus Christenson in the Guardian, Ed Woodward met with Juventus chiefs before submitting a bid “worth a total of £100m with £13m of that in performance-related add-ons”.

Raiola claimed that Juventus want to renew the 23-year-old’s contract and the player could decide to stay at the Turin club for next season.

The Italian champions were told that 27-year-old Matic wasn’t for sale by the Blues last week but will continue to pursue the player should they cash in on Pogba.

Paul Pogba and Leonardo Bonucci would leave one of the top four clubs in Europe if they exit Juventus, says boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Final details will need to be agreed in the coming days, but Paul Pogba is now set, barring an extraordinary u-turn, to re-join Manchester United.

While there have been widespread reports of a bid for Pogba, Goal UK have reported that the French midfielder’s agent, Mino Raiola, has dismissed rumours of a move to Manchester United.

Pogba will join fellow United signings Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly.

If this deal goes through, it looks certain to shatter the previous world record transfer fee, which was set when Tottenham sold Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £86m in the summer of 2013. Away on holiday in the U.S., photographs circulated in this morning’s media of the player with an e-cigarette, an indiscretion which is likely to see him fined by Juventus and warned to be more media savvy by his new club.

The German global has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, but City appear to be leading the chase and a fee of around £42m is expected to seal the deal.
