Melania Trump speechwriter takes blame for plagiarism
Finally, McIver’s explanation for what happened serves Melania poorly, putting her at the center of the plagiarism scandal rather than making her an innocent victim of her staff. It was Melania who sought out Michelle Obama’s speech for inspiration.

Donald Trump sought to draw a line under increasingly damaging plagiarism allegations on Wednesday with the release of a statement admitting his wife had provided a campaign speechwriter with lines taken from Michelle Obama.
But McIver said she did not check Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech at the Democratic National Convention ahead of the first of her husband’s two successful presidential campaigns.
In a potentially embarrassing admission for the Trump campaign, speechwriter McIver said in her statement that Michelle Obama is a person that Melania Trump “has always liked”. “No harm was meant”.
Meredith McIver offered her resignation, but Trump rejected it, reported the Associated Press. McIver admitted her role in the Melania speech because she felt that it was “distracting” attention away from Trump’s “historic campaign”.
“I apologise for the confusion and hysteria my mistake has caused”.
It was a memorable night for Donald Trump Jr., whose put-together appearance and rock solid poise were on display from announcing the deciding votes to standing on stage and delivering the most impressive speech of the night.
He also acknowledged that he didn’t have the rhetorical thunder of Trump, but he actually got high marks for his delivery.
Eight years ago, Obama said: “And Barack and I were raised with so numerous same values: like, you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond, that you do what you say you’re going to do, that you treat people with dignity and respect”.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz was booed during the ongoing Republican National Convention here after he did not endorse Donald Trump as the party’s presidential nominee and asked Americans to “vote your conscience” in the November election.
Trump, who had largely stayed out of the conversation surrounding his wife’s speech, finally broke his silence on Twitter, falsely claiming the speech to have gotten “more publicity than any in the history of politics”.

As Cruz began winding up his speech, the convention hall grew noisier, with some chanting “Trump”.
