Melania Trump’s speechwriter offered to resign; here’s what she said
A speechwriter on Wednesday took responsibility for parts of a speech Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s wife Melania gave at the Republican convention this week that drew accusations of plagiarism.

On Tuesday, under the headline “Make America Work Again”, speakers at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans basketball arena were meant to assail Democratic President Barack Obama’s record on the economy during his almost eight years in power.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday addressed the uproar over his wife’s convention speech, complaining of unfair media coverage yet saying the publicity was still to his benefit.
Melania Trump read McIver some of her favorite Michelle Obama quotes over the phone, the statement said, and some of them were inserted into her final speech.
Meredith McIver, an in-house writer for the Trump Organization, said in a letter that she had worked with Melania Trump on the speech. Ted Cruz of Texas, from his supporters, then thunderous boos from the pro-Trump masses when Cruz wrapped up his speech without endorsing the nominee. That was my mistake, and I feel bad for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. Trump tweeted, using the opportunity to take a shot at his presumptive opponent Hillary Clinton and her email scandal. Mrs. Trump, appearing in a striking white dress with elbow-length sleeves ending in big, puffy cuffs, spoke after an uncharacteristically brief introduction from her husband, who kissed her and called her “my wife, an awesome mother, an incredible woman”.
McIver’s statement revived persistent questions about Trump’s campaign operation and distracted anew from his attempts to reshape his image. “We learned from people who had doctorates in common sense”, the younger Trump said on stage. The Trump campaign was quick to shift the blame and found a way to focus in on Hillary Clinton.
The divide has spilled over into the convention, which has been dominated by a thwarted attempt to block Trump’s nomination and as well as Mrs. Trump’s speech.
Colbert, who recorded The Late Show live from Cleveland, teamed up with Tony Award-winning actress Laura Benanti, who starred as Melania to say she did not plagiarize her speech from Michelle Obama by lifting from other famous lines and pawning them off as her own.
The camp called the allegations “crazy” and said “this concept that Michelle Obama invented the English language is absurd”. “I mean she was speaking in front of 35 million people last night”.
He said that he would have wanted an endorsement but no one should be booed.

“The NATO alliance, since World War II, has been a mutual defense alliance, and I have every confidence that Donald Trump will see to it that the United States of America stands by our allies and lives up to our treaty obligations”, Mr. Pence said Thursday.
