Alluding to Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation from Rajya Sabha, Mr Kejriwal tweeted that honest people are feeling “suffocated” within BJP due to “dictatorial attitude” of its top leadership.

All eyes will now be on the 2017 assembly elections in Punjab, and who can be more opportunistic than Sidhu.

Navjot Kaur said Sidhu’s vision is very clear that he wants to serve Punjab. Apart from continued tussle with the Central government, internal differences forced many party leaders to quit the party.

But BJP sources indicated that this time no one from the BJP would reach out to Sidhu given his unpredictable political behaviour. He has been nominated by BJP in April on the first day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session. I haven’t resigned from the party.

“With someone in his situation pushed to the wall by the Akalis and his own party, the BJP, maintaining a conniving silence, Sidhu was left with little option other than resigning”, he said. She added that she was not aware that Sidhu was going to resign and waiting to listen from him about his future plans.

Asked if it was the right move on his part, Navjot Kaur said, “He is a spiritual man and everything he does is after listening to his inner conscience”.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday took a dig at former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu’s decision to quit and said that the decision displays his “selfish mindset” which is against the party principles. “I don’t remember having met him for a long time now”. “I prefer not to carry it”, he said. Assembly elections slated for next year in his home state Punjab and Sidhu’s reported annoyance at having to vacate his Amritsar Lok Sabha seat for Arun Jaitley in 2014 have fuelled speculation that he is headed for AAP, which is making a determined push in the state.

The talks between Sidhu’s wife and AAP leaders were stalled for few months as both sides refused to budge.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt. Amarinder Singh earlier said former Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu was welcome to the Congress if he desired so. There are reports that the couple are joining the AAP in Delhi. “Punjabis have a visceral hatred for Haryanavis, Kejriwal won’t stand a chance”, said a Congress strategist.

The relationship has turned sour in the wake of Sidhu targeting the SAD for not meeting his objective of giving him prominence in state politics. “Now I don’t know what he likes in Kejriwal”, she added.

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu may well be on course to join the Aam Aadmi Party according to hints dropped by his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu a day after he quit the Rajya Sabha as a BJP lawmaker
