Sam Allardyce on verge of being hired to coach England
After a torrid EURO 2016, and *that* defeat to Iceland, the FA are gearing up to appoint Premier League stalwart “Big” Sam Allardyce as the next national manager…

He will become England’s 15th permanent manager with Allardyce’s appointment coming on the 50th anniversary of the country’s 1966 World Cup triumph.
Big Sam, who is set to be named as Roy Hodgson’s successor, was very almost appointed as the manager of non-league Southport FC in 1997.
Sam Allardyce during his time in charge of Notts County.
“I think it’s the right person for that job”, Mourinho told a news conference in Shanghai on the eve of the International Champions Cup match against Borussia Dortmund.
The former West Ham, Newcastle and Bolton boss has overseen more than 450 Premier League games during a long managerial career, with only Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Harry Redknapp boasting more experience.
“But he is a good motivator, can create a good spirit among his players and I wish the best and, as a friend and United manager, I will try to support in the best way”.
But foreign coaches Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello failed to add to England’s solitary honor – the 1966 World Cup – so the FA has seemingly chose to go English again despite Hodgson’s ignominious end after winning every game in Euro qualification.
“I think you’d have to ask them but as far as I understand it that’s the discussion”.
Allardyce has not yet been officially appointed as the new manager, but it is widely expected that the announcement from the Football Association is imminent.
“I think it is good. He knows all the players and he wants the job”. The Sunderland manager interviewed last week, with Steve Bruce also seen on Monday.
“But he will do a good job”.

Allardyce was never short on self-belief and always felt that he could manage at a bigger club and, even though tongue-in-cheek, explained once why he thought they never considered hiring him.
