Pressure part of the job at Manchester United: Rooney

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to deny reports that the club are on the verge of signing Juventus midfield star Paul Pogba, reported the Mail.

The club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, postponed his flight to Shanghai for United’s pre-season tour of China to instead remain in England and place his entire focus on landing the Frenchman. They have agreed terms with Pogba on a £220,000 per week five-year deal and will pay Raiola a staggering £18.4m for his role in securing the transfer.

Mourinho said: “My board did a fantastic work to do 75 percent of the job I asked”. I gave them a few options.

“We just have 25 per cent to do before the 31st of August, so we are in great conditions to have what I would consider a good market for us. But if you play in a great team, it is natural that we could face
strong competition”.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi is one player being considered by United, according to ESPN.

“We know the profile of the player we want, we have three faces who fit the profile”, Mourinho said.

“Because we were always a club – and are still a club – that when teams come to Old Trafford, they know they are going to be up against it and they know they are probably going to lose”.

Mourinho has signed Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic is still on holiday following Euro 2016, where his Sweden side failed to make it out of the group stage, and will not feature in the International Champions Cup matches against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.

“It wasn’t too much the pain because I could deal with that at that point but, yeah, there was a fear of how long it was going to take or even if I was going to get back playing football”.

“I said when I had my first game on Saturday against Wigan, I felt so emotional the way the crowd were with me, the way they were with the cheers when I had my first touch”.
