Do you think endorsements affect voters’ decisions?

Toomey, who predicted seven months ago that it was “very unlikely” Trump would be the GOP nominee, is still searching for his own way to share the November 8 general election ballot with the controversial real estate developer and reality television star.

Cruz was booed off the Republican National Convention stage Wednesday night when he told the audience to “vote your conscience” and did not endorse Trump.

“Everybody knew about the pledges”.

When asked about a pledge to support the Republican nominee that he made during a GOP primary debate last summer, Cruz said that Trump “abrogated” that same pledge earlier with “personal” attacks on his wife and father. She said people who had doubts about the Bushes and Romney put them aside, and now it’s time to do the same for Trump.

The uproar over the withheld endorsement overshadowed well-received speeches by Eric Trump, the nominee’s son, and Governor Mike Pence of IN, the party’s nominee for vice president. “So as far as the contract was concerned, he was the one in violation, not anybody else”. Ted Cruz stubbornly defended his refusal to endorse Donald Trump, insisting he is not a “servile puppy dog” who would back anyone who personally attacks his family.

The pledge read: “I (name) affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for president of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is”. On March 12, he said he was committed to support the GOP nominee.

Adding to the ruckus inside the hall, Trump himself was seen on a split screen on cable news waiting in the wings to enter the hall as Cruz finished speaking. “I don’t intend to say negative things about Donald Trump”, said Cruz. Do you think he did the right thing or should he have backed Trump’s campaign?

The senator stressed that he did not disparage Trump in his speech and won’t explicitly attack him. We watched the whole speech from Heidi’s phone as delegates and Young Republicans stepped over us to get to wherever they were going.

“I think the convention was looking for a much more heartfelt endorsement”, he said.

Cruz’s words in the speech could be interpreted in a number of different ways, but some saw it as slight against the party’s nominee.

The sense of passionate conflict among Texans Thursday was a microcosm of the friction on the convention floor Wednesday night.

Later in his speech, he urged: “Please, don’t stay home in November”.

Walker said Thursday during an interview on WTMJ-AM that he hopes Trump’s camp will stop criticizing fellow Republicans – such as Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who won’t endorse Trump and did not attend the convention – and instead focus on Clinton.
