More than 40 people have been killed and almost 2,000 people and 1,600 security forces have been injured in clashes since 9 July.

He said this while talking to PTV News, further adding that the current situation in occupied Kashmir is very precarious and the world conscience should not arise to address this issue.

The committee meeting, held under the chair of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, also adopted a resolution condemning the killing of the innocent Kashmiri people at the hands of Indian forces in harshest words and demanded immediate access to the doctors’ bodies to Indian Occupied Kashmir so that they could be provided with proper medical treatment.

An eerie calm prevailed in large parts of the valley though a police spokesperson said stone-throwing protests erupted at about a dozen places. “They will submit a report within two months”, he said. “Whenever there has been any trouble, people of all religions of the country have stood up for their Muslim brothers”, said Singh.

Referring to former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s famous lines – “chingari ka khel khelna khatra hota hae (to play with fire is often dangerous), Singh sought to caution Pakistan on its continued role to sponsor terrorism”. The Indian forces are ruling the roost in the territory as they continue to massacre our people particularly the youth and maim our children through lethal weapons.

Appreciating the synergy being shown amongst all security agencies that has resulted in successful counter terrorist operations, he also complimented the troops on ground for showing maximum restraint even in the face of grave provocation.

“Though there has been no deliberate attempt on part of the government to impose any restrictions on the publication of newspapers, however, whatever has happened, because of some communication gap, is regrettable”, the Chief Minister said, adding it will be looked into.

In his message on the occasion, he said Kashmir is the unfinished agenda of the United Nations.

Responding to criticism from the Opposition on why a parliamentary team has not been sent to Kashmir to take stock of the situation, Singh said he had broached up the subject with Jammu and Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.

Noting that Pakistan has an evil eye on Kashmir, he assured the House that the government will restore its pride and glory.

Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets across Pakistan Wednesday to protest against the ongoing violence in the Indian-administered Kashmir, where days of clashes between residents and Indian forces have claimed the lives of 45 people.

Mehbooba expressed dismay over the non-participation of the NC at the meeting and said “I had spoken to NC working president, Omar Abdullah, myself last evening and requested him to attend the meeting”, a statement denied by the National Conference.

The authorities had earlier chose to relax curfew across the valley to allow the people buy essentials of life.
