Vacation Bible School at Chaffin Church

This is the 15th year for St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church to host its annual Back to School Prayer event. The evening service begins at 6 p.m.in the chapel.

Sunday school begins at 8:45 a.m. with worship at 10 a.m.at West Haven Baptist Church.

Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school this Sunday at Marantha Baptist Church in Plains.

“Chant 101”, sponsored by Corpus Christi Catholic Church, continues today and Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m.at the Ursuline Center.

5 p.m. & 7 p.m.: Chambertown Community Lighthouse, 413 South Mountain St., holds Revival Services. Items should be submitted by 5 p.m. Wednesday before Friday publication.

Responding 12-Step Recovery meetings will be each Monday at 7 p.m. The 12-step recovery program is Bible based and takes the traditional 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and looks at a biblical view of true recovery through the word of God. For information, call 610-246-9910.

Saints Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Christian Church: 2956 Cohasset d.: Great Vespers; 6 p.m. Pastor Jeffrey Maynard and the congregation from New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church will be the 11 a.m. guests, and Pastor Earl Dirkson and the congregation at Trinity Baptist Church will be the 3 p.m. guests. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Elder Gregory Poole, pastor of Cathedral of Holiness Church of Silver Springs, Md., and the 3 p.m. speaker will be the Rev. Timothy Simmons, pastor of New Horizon Baptist Church, High Point. The youth meet at 6:35 p.m. for a time of Bible study, fellowship, activity and missions education.

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship: an open and affirming church, 1289 Filbert Ave.: Ken Fries, Ali Sarsour and Bob Garner will orchestrate “Poem-Klava 2”, a morning of poetry readings from fellowship members, friends and guests, 9:30 a.m., followed by sampling of Ali’s Baklava at coffee hour.
