Sierah was last seen in the area of the Evergreen School District at approximately 6:45p.m.on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Her boyfriend had taken a picture of the two during the bike ride that showed Joughin wearing a Fitbit band, which tracks activity and could help show her whereabouts. She has long brown hair and brown eyes.
Joughin’s purple bicycle was found along County Road 6.
Other assisting law enforcement agencies include: Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Michigan State Police.
The search for Joughin has included “aerial assets”, including a helicopter, which was out Wednesday morning.
Officials observed some type of disturbance around the bike, which was three to four rows deep into the cornfield, Sheriff Miller said.
Investigators may have found another clue in the disappearance of Sierah Joughin.
When asked if there was something suspicious about the Joughin’s disappearance, he simply said, “As I told you guys (press and electronic media) earlier, obviously the Federal Bureau of Investigation and BCI woiuldn’t be involved if we didn’t think there was some type of an issue”. We’re here to support the Fulton County sheriff, we’re here working closely with with BCI as well as the Ohio State Highway Parol.
The desperate search for an OH woman may be crossing the border into MI.
“It’s a true joint effort”, he said. “So, we’ll continue to hold hope”.
Sheriff Miller says there are no persons of interest at this point.
“I’m optimistic that we’ll find her with all the help”, Sheriff Miller said.
Officials planned to use a specialized search dog from the Columbus area to scour the area before sending out more people through a methodical search process on foot.
Authorities say they do not need more volunteers for the search at this time, but that they may ask for more later on. However, Miller said he is not considered a suspect. He said they want to get a map set up so that they can hit areas that have not yet been checked.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 419-335-4010, ext. 8.
