Cruz defiant as GOP slams him on Trump non-endorsement
Delegates chanted Trump’s name and implored Cruz to voice his support for the businessman, to no avail. He told Republicans to vote their conscience, which turned his address into a total fiasco. “He can unify just by giving an endorsement and he didn’t do that for us tonight”. That’s because Republicans have struggled in recent presidential contests to overcome the brutal math of a shrinking voter base.

The change in mood was perhaps best exemplified by Fox News political commentator Charles Krauthammer who predicted the kickoff, but by the next morning called it a “political suicide”. That may sound like a small amount, but in a state where the winning margin is often a fraction of a point, it could make a huge difference. The hotel, co-owned and managed by the Trump Organization, agreed to a settlement Thursday that will see them pay $11,200 in lost wages to the two workers, the Los Angeles Times reported. Trump has adopted a very different approach.
The Republican presidential ticket largely abandoned Washington in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 elections. “They thought they would come here and there’d be a thunderclap and Ted Cruz would somehow be the nominee”.

Nor have they been able to put to rest questions about whether they can mount a sophisticated campaign to take on Clinton’s well-oiled operation.
Many Republican strategists fear the Democrats are right.
But that ended with the quick, official nomination of Donald Trump. She ran for the nonpartisan job of King County executive in 2009, insisting that she was not a political partisan.
Yet another part of the problem is one of “style”, said Chris Wilson, a Republican strategist and pollster for Sen. Ted Cruz and other state leaders protested his candidacy. So, too, does the black-and-white certainty with which Trump views the world.
One of Trump’s key goals going into this week’s convention was to unite the party after a roughly 18-month primary season that was marked by personal attacks on candidates, sometimes violent rallies, and deep disagreement over what it means to be a Republican.
In May, Trump asked on ABC’s “This Week”, “Does the party have to be together, does it have to be unified?”
The dispute was the latest misstep at the four-day party meeting, which was meant to be an occasion showing Republicans rallying behind Trump, a NY businessman who has never been elected to public office but who saw off 16 rivals in the primary contests. “I said ‘no, your husband is wrong, ‘” Hutchison said.

Cruz reaffirmed that he would not vote for Hillary Clinton, and it was unclear whether the Texans confronted him were more than a vocal minority. What other act could have elevated Melania Trump-described on the CNN ticker as having “Launched Jewelry Collection with QVC in 2010, and Caviar Skin Care Collection in 2013″-to the level of Michelle Obama, a cum laude graduate of Princeton University, graduate of Harvard Law, and, for more than seven years, the first lady of the United States?”
