It expects to replace the longstanding reservations system next year and replace other key systems over the next three to five years.
“Once our systems resume full functionality, we’re offering flexible accommodations for re-booking your travel”, it said.
According to Local 6, dozens of fliers took to Twitter to complain about the delays.
Long lines existed Thursday morning at Oakland International Airport, where Southwest operates out of Terminal 2, airport spokeswoman Keonnis Taylor said. His flight was canceled Wednesday and Thursday. Southwest blamed that breakdown on a faulty software application.
Southwest Airlines’ website was down and flights were impacted across the country after the airline reported an issue with it’s system.
Southwest passengers arrived to airports with patience Thursday as the airline caught up after a computer crash caused hundreds of flights to be canceled on Wednesday.
Our earlier story, posted Wednesday.
“We’re seeing some minor effects today, which may be carry-over from issues yesterday, but we are not sure”, said Ryan McAdam, marketing manager for Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport.
The airline did manual check-ins at Lambert as well. “We know you are disappointed and our people are working very hard to restore our systems”. Nine more were delayed.
By late afternoon, systems were gradually coming back online, Southwest spokesman Dan Landson said.
Southwest airlines faced the same problem last October an outage caused 800 canceled flights at that time company put the blame for this outage on American airlines.
