Skype updates its Windows 10 app beta on desktop and mobile
Microsoft was so confident that Windows 10 would take off like a rocket that it predicted the OS would be installed on 1 billion devices by the start of fiscal year 2018 next March.

Windows 10 has been a big success on PCs, at least in term of the rate of adoption: It’s far and away the most widely-used OS on Steam, and back in May was reported to have been installed on 300 million active devices, a big jump from the 200 million installations reported at the beginning of the year.
In a statement issued to ZDNet, Microsoft admitted that it would miss the 1 billion devices goal, but also pointed out that Windows 10 remains the fastest adopted OS in Windows history regardless. Part of that is likely because Windows 10 is the first version of the operating system that the company has offered as a free upgrade, and Microsoft has moved to end support for older versions of Windows. In a recent statement, the company explains that sales of the phone unit have been rather low, so smartphones have dragged down Windows 10 adoption. “In the year ahead, we are excited about usage growth coming from commercial deployments and new devices – and increasing customer delight with Windows”, Yusuf Mehdi, chief of the Windows marketing unit, has said. That push was boosted by the decision to make it available for free to users of Windows 7 and 8.
In the meantime, however, you still have 10 days to perform the upgrade. That offer ends ends July 29.
Right now, Windows 10 is running on almost 20 percent of the desktop PCs in the world, and Windows 7, the number one PC platform, has dropped to around 40 percent as many users have taken advantage of the offer and performed the upgrade.
You’ll also need to have booked in your device for its upgrade before noon, so you can’t skip into the store five minutes before closing and expect to walk out with a Dell laptop.

While they didn’t outright say that they will be bringing the game on Window 10 Mobile, the lack of any refusal suggests there might actually be a possibility of developers and Microsoft working together to make this thing a reality.
