Chelsea sign N’Golo Kante from champions Leicester

It’s safe to say that N’Golo Kante’s style of play will fit in with the high-energy and pressing tactics that Antonio Conte employs.

Kante, who won the league title with Leicester City in his first season in English football, was among the most coveted footballers of the summer transfer window.

“I am now waiting to see my new club and give everything for a successful summer…”

Kante became Chelsea’s second signing of the summer yesterday – following Michy Batshuayi from Marseille – after the Blues agreed a £30million fee with Leicester.

There has been some interest in Mahrez from other clubs but it would be much harder to prise Mahrez away than Kante as Mahrez does not have a release clause in the contract he signed a year ago and which expires in 2019.

The midfielder steadfastly refused to be drawn on his future until Euro 2016 had finished and with that over, events moved swiftly with Chelsea agreeing personal terms with the player last week.

The France midfielder made more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the Premier League last season.

The club’s project and the coach’s speech have convinced me to join this new ambitious adventure.

Chelsea have announced the signing of N’Golo Kante from Leicester City on a five-year deal.

“Kanté was a target and for this reason I am very very happy that the club bought this player”.

Chelsea is reportedly ready to offer Kante a deal worth around $158,000 a week, triple what he earned with the Premier League champions last season. He has good technique, fantastic stamina and I like this type of player.

Having played an influential role in Leicester’s success previous year, it would certainly be a shame to see Mahrez leave, but ultimately he will have to prioritise choosing the club that offers him the best chance at success along with the financial factors. “He stays here with us”.
