Seth Meyers explains Black Lives Matter to Rudy Giuliani

GIULIANI: if I were a black father and I was concerned of my child, really concerned about it, and not in a politically activist sense, I would say, “be very respectful of the police. a lot of them are good. some can be very bad. and just be very careful”.

The protesters, along with a police officer, form a circle to pray for the city of Dallas before heading home.

I have never been entirely comfortable with the name the Black Lives Matter movement chose for itself.

That petition, which garnered about 1,200 signatures by Tuesday, states, “A petition to recognize the black lives matter movement was started and that’s not what the movement is about”.

Members of the movement view the recent deadly confrontations between police and blacks as evidence of discrimination.

According to a CNN video posted to their Facebook page, another Black Lives Matter protest began in Dallas.

“To be honest, he shows a real lack of understanding about what racism actually is”, she said.

“I’ve never seen a white person discriminated against the way a black or brown person is discriminated against.” he said. “It doesn’t care about the 90 percent of blacks that are killed by other blacks”.

Following the Dallas cop massacre, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick was quick to directly blame Black Lives Matter protests for the killings.

Indeed, they do. So do the lives of people of color – and police lives, too. Blue Lives Matter formed in response to the criticism of police departments. Only the lives that are taken at the hands of cops or white people, matter.

“My solution to the tension between the police and the people – which I recognize as my own inner tension – is to seek unity, not find division”, he wrote, adding that community education and police reforms are also needed.
