Marlins offering 61% off tickets to future game for Stanton’s 61 homers

Under the new timed format – where players were given a timer to hit as many dingers as possible as opposed to the usual 10-outs-and-done method – Stanton stood tall on Monday night, hitting 5.1 total miles worth of home runs and defeating reigning champ Todd Frazier in the process.

Giancarlo Stanton, the finest masher of taters in baseball, won the home run derby last night with a record 61 total home runs.

Frazier, now with the Chicago White Sox after winning last year’s Home Run Derby as a member of the All-State Game host Cincinnati Reds, had no homers in the final round of 440 feet or more, meaning he didn’t qualify for the 30-second bonus round at the end of his four-minute round.

Pederson hit 13 home runs in the first round of the 2015 Home Run Derby and that was more than the seven Dodgers’ past participants.

Stanton’s longest home run was 497 feet, a distance he clocked a couple of times during the competition.

The slugger also hit all 10 of the longest shots, and 18 of the 19 longest in the contest.

The Marlins sent out a ticket offer to Marlins fans who previously purchased tickets with a fun little ticket promotion tied to Stanton’s performance in the Home Run Derby. He shouldn’t have a problem next year, either, when, barring injury, he’ll defend his crown at Marlins park, where he’s already done plenty of damage (literally). Now I will have kids saying the same thing. The All-Star Game will be played Tuesday. Or, they can buy tickets to another game at a 25% discount. “I would like to return that”. Trumbo ended up beating him with 11 straight home runs – including eight after his timeout break – to provide the requisite 16 to advance.

Frazier broke Prince Fielder’s all-time record for career home runs in the event.

The second round semifinal carried pace with the juggernauts Trumbo and Stanton meeting and Frazier and Duvall doing battle on the other side of the bracket.

He says “I chewed tobacco from 2007 until the day he passed away”.

“I’m just really happy for him”.

Several factors combined to squelch that concept, ESPN.com’s sources said, not the least of which was Bumgarner’s desire to take part in the main event.

“Depends how the year’s going, depends where it is”, he said.
