Heat index expected to reach 105 degrees this week

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued an excessive-heat watch in effect from late Thursday evening through Saturday evening.

Initially, the weather gurus issued a heat advisory starting Monday, running through Friday.

The National Weather Service has extended an excessive heat warning for the metro area through the weekend.

Heat indexes in Chicago are projected to get as high as 110 on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported.

By Sunday, it’s possible the heat index will top out at 90 degrees, according to the weather service.
