On Thursday, Amazon revealed an August 19 premiere date for the pilot episode of its “The Tick” reboot.

The Tick character was originally created by Ben Edlund 1986 as a mascot for the New England Comics comic book store chain. The Tick is executive produced by Ben Edlund (Supernatural), Barry Josephson (Bones) and Barry Sonnenfeld (A Series of Unfortunate Events), directed by Wally Pfister (The Dark Knight), and written by Edlund. Amazon is bringing back the big blue doofus in a new series however, that stars Peter Serafinowicz as the titular Tick, and they’ve just released a handful of images to show off the actor in a familiar blue costume that is somehow still a big departure from the shiny blue muscle suit that Patrick Warburton wore. A short-lived live action TV show, video game, and merchandise followed.

As in previous years, Amazon customers will be able to stream and review the pilots. The other, “Jean-Claude Van Johnson”, follows the adventures of martial-arts star Jean-Claude Van Damme as “the most unsafe undercover private contractor in the world”.
