The hamburger chain said Thursday hackers obtained card numbers, names, expiration dates, and codes on cards beginning in the late fall.
News describes this as the most significant hack in US history Wendy’s is, appropriately, recommending to customers that they check their credit card statements very carefully and be mindful of fraud. The list will be posted here.
Payment cards may have been compromised between December 2, 2015, and June 8, 2016, at most locations, except for between January 13 and June 8 for restaurants in Hooksett, Lee, Merrimack, Milford and Salem, according to the company.
The company first reported unusual payment card activity affecting some restaurants in February.
The company’s website lists 25 locations in New Hampshire.
“The company believes this criminal cyberattack resulted from a service provider’s remote access credentials being compromised”, the company added in the statement.
“We are committed to protecting our customers and keeping them informed”, said Todd Penegor, president and CEO.
In Boise, affected Wendy’s restaurants are on Broadway Avenue, Orchard Street, Franklin Road and State Street.

Wendy’s said in a statement that the malware might have been operational in its affected restaurants since Autumn 2015.
The Wendy’s Co. (WEN – Analyst Report) announced Thursday that the personal financial information of its customers were targeted at a portion of its US -based franchises.
