Manchester United set to make opening offer for Paul Pogba

United are reportedly close to snapping up the Juventus star for a world record £100million fee on a deal that could net the France star £202,000-a-week over the next five years.

United has been pursuing Pogba this summer and is willing to match Juventus’ asking price should they intend to sell the Frenchman to them.

Last week Raiola had poured cold water on Pogba’s proposed move to Old Trafford, by arguing United were simply one of “several big clubs” interested in the player.

However, United are the bookmakers’ favourites to sign Pogba and Woodward conspicuous by his absence when the team landed in Shanghai on Wednesday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player’s powerful agent Mino Raiola is now in Manchester, where he will discuss the possible sale of the player with the Red Devils.

Gianluca Di Marzio, football’s most trusted voice on rumours, has today confirmed reports of a meeting between the clubs.

Juventus officials insist no bid had been tabled for the midfielder, despite persisting reports of talks being underway over a £100million move for the 23-year-old. For the moment I’m at Juve and I’m happy. He obviously wants to take in Pogba before the start of the English Premier League season that would ultimately make them favorites as well.

The Serie A giants are hopeful, despite their own offer falling well short of the money on offer at Old Trafford that the good relationship with Pogba will act in their favor, Goal says.

Madrid need time, but United are piling on the pressure and there aren’t any other Galácticos left in the market.

The Portuguese manager has already signed Eric Bailly in defense, Mkhitaryan in midfield and Zlatan upfront.
