“I think this is a good man who’s been talking about the issues the American people care about”, Pence says.
“It assures people, since Pence actually supported Cruz in the primaries, this is one of the best things about Donald Trump’s character – he does not hold grudges”, said Mobley.
But they failed to note that Mr. Pence is a fiscal and social conservative who believes that America must balance its budget, reform welfare and rein in entitlement spending.
“One of the reasons is party unity, I have to be honest”, he said.
Former governors Tom Kean Sr. and Christie Todd Whitman have distanced themselves from Trump and have said it would be hard to support their party’s nominee.
The interview was a trainwreck tribute to the ego of Donald Trump, who made it clear that he was in charge and that the spotlight was always to be on him at all times. The two men, instead of presenting an image of an emboldened, unified front, barely spent any time on stage together, as Trump quickly exited after greeting Pence with a perfunctory handshake and arm pat.
Donald Trump introduced his choice of vice presidential candidate by offering a narrative about his experience with Pence.
Trump, in a meandering, 28-minute speech, managed to work in a plug for his new hotel in Washington before Pence even took the stage. Pence heads back to IN for a solo event on Saturday night, and the Trump campaign hasn’t released a schedule for the convention that would include a joint appearance.
He also said he anticipated Pence would have won re-election as governor if he hadn’t made a decision to join the ticket.
Mike Pence has been openly critical of Donald Trump.
“I said that Brexit’s going to happen”.
Trump has since tapped him to lead the presidential transition, a massive hiring-and-organization challenge that would be required if Trump defeats his likely Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton in November.
Trump had a bit of a winding path to settle on Pence, a devout Christian and conservative.
“He looks very good”, Trump added, discussing Pence’s appearance.
Trump tells “60 Minutes” that he and his running mate are ready to confront troubles in the world.
The real estate mogul said Pence was “entitled to make a mistake every once in a while”.

Standing before a backdrop of American flags and a flood-lit red, white and blue curtain, Trump declared himself and Pence as the “law-and-order candidates” of a law-and-order Republican party. “I’m here as Kasich delegate, I would have liked to see John Kasich as well, but Mike Pence is doing a great job as well”. The presumptive Republican nominee announced on Saturday that Indiana Governor Mike Pence would be his “partner”.
