No matter how you look at it as ABC News reminds, Trump, with the help of his daughter on Thursday, may or may not have saved his own convention, after the campaign’s self-imposed distractions and a hostile takeover attempt by a scorned rival.
Still, he set aside much of his usual bravado. With that, he summed up both the paradox and the power of his campaign – a billionaire who made common cause with struggling Americans alienated from the system, or at least a portion of them.
Instead, he greeted his supporters at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame close to the convention arena to the blaring tune of The Who’s Baba O’Riley with lyrics like, “I don’t need to fight to prove I’m right”. Yet he also accused her of “terrible, bad crimes”.
Speakers lined up to denounce Clinton for the deaths of their loved ones, for dodgy foreign policies and for putting national security at risk by using a private email server for sensitive government information.
The list of speakers for the DNC include several names from the Tri-State area, including Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio and NY senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. “Beginning on January 20th of 2017, safety will be restored”. The U.S. Secret Service says it’s investigating the comments.
“We are going to build a great border wall to stop illegal immigration, to stop the gangs and the violence, and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities”, Trump plans to sy.
Trump’s immigration proposal is a driving force in his presidential campaign.
The candidate also outlined his approach to fighting terrorism.
He said he’ll create the “best intelligence gathering operation in the world”.
Reviewing Clinton’s record, Trump said in 2009, ISIS was not even on the map and the situation across the Middle East was stable.
Trump’s third focus is working with allies such as Israel – and he vowed to block Syrian refugees from entering the country.
“Every delegate I talked with from other states – and I talked to lots of them – said they were supporting Trump, enthusiastically”, said Bob Spindell, a delegate from Milwaukee.
A day earlier, he said in a New York Times interview that he might not come to the defense of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation nations that failed to meet their financial obligations.
In office, Trump promised to put “put America first”. “People who work hard but no longer have a voice”.
Trump will accuse the former secretary of state as being a political insider with “bad instincts” and “bad judgment”.
Clinton tweeted, “Here’s how the Republican ticket would “protect” LGBT Americans #RNCinCLE”, along with a chart that read, “The Trump Pence ticket”, followed by a series of checked-off campaign issues, including opposition to gay marriage, and support of religious discrimination laws and so-called conversion therapy. On January 21st of 2017, the day after I take the oath of office, Americans will finally wake up in a country where the laws of the U.S. are enforced. Clinton and President Barack Obama oppose it because they are bought and paid for by the teachers union, he explained. Republicans used her decades in politics to draw a sharp contrast with Trump, a political novice promising to shake up Washington. The GOP in the past has supported free trade agreements.
The GOP presidential nominee paused for almost a minute while waiting for police to remove her.

The symbolic rite of passage that Trump’s appearance at the GOP convention represents will immediately confer a new level of stature and responsibility on Trump.
