On Monday, New York magazine’s Gabriel Sherman reported that the elder Murdoch and his sons James and Lachlan, who lead Fox News parent 21st Century Fox, had agreed to remove Ailes, although the timing remained unclear.
News of Ailes’ impending exit landed like a shock wave in Cleveland, where numerous nation’s leading television executives and personalities were gathered in tight quarters.
After a sexual harassment lawsuit was brought against Roger Ailes, it was seemingly only a matter of time before FOX News decided to make a move.
However, the Drudge Report obtained documents saying Ailes will receive at least million from Fox to leave. But the tweet was nearly immediately taken down. What is being reported tonight by multiple news sources is that Ailes is in the final stages of negotiations that will result in him leaving that company. Carlson said Doocy was treating her in a “sexist and condescending manner”. She added, “There is no agreement, there is no deal, and the review is ongoing”. It is possible that some of the channel’s biggest names, such as Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, could leave with him.
Claims against Fox News boss Roger Ailes are being investigated by the New York-based Paul, Weiss.
Six other women, all former Fox employees, contacted Carlson’s lawyer to share similar stories after the lawsuit was presented July 6. Doocy is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.
Ailes is believed to be working under a contract with a term that expires in 2018.
Carlson most recently hosted “The Real Story With Gretchen Carlson”.
Ailes has a loyal following at Fox News and Fox Business and has typically operated with little interference from the leadership at 21st Century Fox, in part because of his close relationship with Rupert Murdoch, according to WSJ.
The 74-year-old held enormous influence over the conservative-leaning cable network, to such a point that a Fox News without Ailes is hard for some to imagine.
There is no obvious successor to Mr. Ailes. One is that the elder Murdoch now shares control of his media empire with his two sons, and it appears they do not share their father’s deep loyalty to executives who help build that empire.
Roger Ailes is the co-founder, chairman and CEO of the news channel. Rupert Murdoch thinks Ailes, whose broadcasting fame has increased along with his role in Republican politics, should not be removed until after this week’s GOP convention, according to the report.

Mr Ailes strongly denies the allegations and says Ms Carlson filed the suit in retaliation for not having her contract renewed. Lachlan and James serve as News Corp.co-chairman and CEO of 21st Century Fox, respectively, and they have little affection for Ailes, who treated them with contempt earlier in their careers….
