Generally speaking, the sales tax holiday applies to purchases of clothing and school supplies less than $100 in value per item and computers less than $1,500.

“This year we advocated for a longer extension and they agreed with it, and now it’s 10 days”, said James Miller with the Florida Retail Federation.

Additionally, Energy Star and WaterSense items also qualify for a tax break during the holiday.

The school supplies included in the holiday tax exemption include but are not limited to backpacks, binders, calculators, composition notebooks, crayons, erasers, folders, glue, index cards, lunch boxes, markers, paper, pencils, pens, rulers, and scissors.
