“The French unjust aggression claimed the lives of more than 120 civilians, most of them are children, women and elderly, in addition to tens of wounded citizens, the majority of them are also children and women as reports say that the fate of scores of other civilians who still under debris are unknown too, ” the Syrian Foreign Ministry wrote, as cited by the Syrian Arab News Agency.

A US-backed force fighting to drive Islamic State out of Manbij said on Thursday it was giving the jihadist group 48 hours to pull out of the surrounded northern Syrian city.

Carter joined Secretary of State John Kerry in welcoming attendees to the State-hosted meeting, which follows the third meeting this year of defense ministers from coalition nations, held yesterday at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

The Observatory said at least 104 civilians had died in airstrikes since the start of the Manbij offensive in late May.

French President Francois Hollande said he had no precise information on whether French planes were responsible for the Toukhar air strike.

But UN children’s agency Unicef said “more than 20 children” were killed in the attack.

Amnesty International looked into 11 us -led airstrikes over the last two years and found that they resulted in the killing of 250 to 300 civilians, but the USA recognized only five civilian deaths in those incidents, he said.

Carter said from discussions that morning with coalition defense ministers “it was very encouraging” over what additional support was to be provided “from strike aircraft through to training and vital work in logistics, stabilization and other aspects”.

The strikes took place near where US -backed Kurdish and Arab forces are battling ISIS.

The civilian death toll from suspected USA -led airstrikes in northern Syria earlier this week is rising sharply because of a lack of medical facilities to care for those wounded near the besieged city of Manbij, an observing group has warned.

The United States began to increase operations against ISIL in February and has encouraged allies to provide more support.

Sherfan Darwish of the SDF says the extremists did not respond to the offer.

The rebels are also battling the army and its militia allies around the city of Aleppo, where around 300,000 people living in rebel-held neighbourhoods have been cut off since pro-government forces seized the last road out of the city.
