Officials from Malaysia, Australia and China will decide Friday whether to extend an underwater search for Flight 370 amid renewed appeals by families of those aboard the Malaysia Airlines jet to not give up the hunt more.

With so many flights cancelled on Wednesday, Southwest knew that a large number of passengers would try to fly Thursday. Southwest Airlines Co makes up approx 0.01% of Ferguson Wellman Capital Management Inc’s portfolio.Gofen Glossberg Il reduced its stake in LUV by selling 268 shares or 4.58% in the most recent quarter.

Almost 300 Southwest Airlines flights have been canceled Friday, as the airline deals with the fallout of a computer glitch that grounded its planes Wednesday and caused headaches for passengers Thursday.

Southwest “began experiencing intermittent performance issues” Wednesday afternoon, which prompted a temporary halt to all flights that had not yet left the gate, according to the airline.

About 300 flights had been canceled as of this morning mainly because flight crews have been displaced as a result of the technology problem. Jim Corridore, an S&P analyst, said Southwest had a disadvantage compared to rival airlines from fuel hedging losses, but he kept a “buy” recommendation for the stock with revenues growing faster than the industry average.

The airline says a computer glitch that caused a series of failures on Wednesday has been fixed, and most systems are up and running. “That is our first priority”. Those disruptions spilled over into Thursday as company official said almost 450 flights were canceled for the day. After “a day of recovery”, the airline hoped to be operating normally on Friday, CEO Gary Kelly said. Many travelers sat in terminals or on planes for hours. A fare sale scheduled to end Thursday was extended one week because of the outage, he added.
