Republicans who are mad at Ted Cruz for not endorsing Donald Trump

And, said another delegate who refused to be identified, “minus the scandals”.

Ted Cruz, one of only three Latinos in the Senate, failed Wednesday to bounce from his refusal to endorse Donald Trump at the convention, leaving many wondering if the Republican junior senator has put his 2018 political prospects in jeopardy.

Delegates were irate. Californian Shirley Husar, who just the night before had cast the Golden State’s 172 delegate votes for Trump, said Cruz should be ashamed of himself. “But he didn’t keep his pledge”.

Walker framed the 2016 presidential election as a choice. Or, as his running mate Mike Pence said, “As we say back home, you can’t fake good kids”.

Often times these accusations have been misplaced, but there’s also a reason why people are tired of Cruz constantly presenting himself as the Last Principled Man. Ted Cruz’s non-endorsement speech so dominated the coverage, Pence was all but forgotten. (Both Trump and I are from that NY borough.) In fact, Trump’s inner Queens must both understand and agree.

“I am with you, I will fight for you, and I will win for you”.

He did not get the overwhelmingly positive reaction inside the hall that Sarah Palin received eight years ago, or even, I recall, as much love as Paul Ryan got in 2012. “For some reason, he shouted the speech”, he said.

“Cruz is a big boy”. He’s 44 years old. He made a big-boy decision last night.

Earnest said Mrs. Obama’s speech in 2008 drew widespread praise.

“Ted Cruz has not been one to just fall into line, so no one should be real surprised by that”, he added. “I think she’s one of his best assets”.

“Beginning on January 20th of 2017, safety will be restored”, Trump said.

In fairness, Cruz actually had shown remarkable restraint tonight compared to, say, early May, when he was still a GOP candidate and talked a lot about Trump. In American politics, these gatherings are created to officially nominate the presidential candidate – a foregone conclusion this time around for both the Republicans and the Democrats, who will meet next week – and rally the faithful to get behind that candidate and the party’s contenders for Congress. “Vote for your conscience”, Cruz said. “There are going to be people who remember that moment”.

That’s a tall order for a candidate who regularly pitted groups against each other and created deep divisions within his own party.

“I was terribly disappointed that he didn’t keep his pledge”. She introduced him to a wild ovation from delegates gathered at the Quicken Loans Arena for the final night of their party’s political convention. “He wasn’t beloved before and that’s kind of why I liked him is because the powers that be didn’t like him, so he was my guy”. “I think it was too cute, and I think you saw at the end of the speech that the crowd was waiting for him to do the right thing and realized that he wasn’t going to do it”.
