According to the New York Daily News, Perry went into cardiac arrest and lost consciousness.
“Joe Perry is stable and resting”, a band representative said, without offering further detail on his condition.
Perry left the stage after the first song while the rest of the band continued to play, former host of “That Metal Show” Eddie Trunk tweeted from his official acount. “Joe Perry.’ It was so sad”.
According to the New York Daily News, band frontman Alice Cooper told the crowd Perry “was very sick before the show”, citing an Aerosmith Facebook fan page.
Perry, Cooper, and Depp formed the Hollywood Vampires back in 2015, in homage to the legendary drinking club frequented by musicians during the 1970s.
Oh no! Joe Perry was performing in Coney Island with the Hollywood Vampires on July 10 when he collapsed to the floor in the middle of the show.
Perry himself posted on Twitter just hours before being taken ill: “Warming up with Tommy. His brother Vampires and fans wish him a speedy recovery”, it read. Sunday night’s show at The Amphitheater at Coney Island included Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum and Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Robert DeLeo.
The Hollywood Vampires will not be making their Late Show With Stephen Colbert debut after all.
Hollywood Vampires are in the midst of a USA tour and were scheduled to appear tonight on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”.
