Donald Trump Still Isn’t Done Attacking Ted Cruz
“Beginning on January 20th of 2017, safety will be restored”.

Clinton backers in the Buckeye state view this as an opportunity to contrast their candidate’s messaging with that of the Republican Party and its presidential nominee, Donald Trump.
After a week in which Republicans largely focused on Clinton’s deficiencies rather than on Trump’s attributes and personal story, Ivanka Trump offered a new window into the Republican nominee.
“I think this is probably going to be the most important election in my lifetime”, she said.
Trump painted a dire state of affairs in the United States and the world – instability overseas and crumbling infrastructure at home – and blamed those problems on President Barack Obama and his former secretary of state, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton and the Democrats should be anxious. Only one in five feds said they support authorizing the use of torture as an interrogation technique, another of Trump’s campaign promises.
He said he saw the text of Cruz’s speech two hours before it was delivered but thought, “let him speak anyway”. “There were some mixed feelings and some hurt feelings in the Texas delegation today”, said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, an ardent Cruz supporter who chaired his Texas campaign. And there was no mention of making Mexico pay for it, as Trump has said throughout his run.
The former secretary of state’s Twitter account later echoed Cruz’s sentiment, with an ironic twist: “Vote your conscience”, it reiterated, adding a link to Clinton’s voter-registration page. And while we can take some comfort in the high likelihood that Trump will lose in November, the political dysfunction that lifted him this high will endure beyond 2016. As Trump prepares to formally accept the GOP nomination here Thursday night, it’s Cruz who is attracting the spotlight.
He promised a “simplified” tax system for the middle class and businesses, fewer regulations and renegotiation of trade deals that he says have put working class Americans at a disadvantage.
Trump talked at length about recent American tragedies – the Boston marathon bombing, shootings of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, La., and the mass shooting at an Orlando gay nightclub. And he was explicit in his vow to crack down on crime and danger, particularly from individuals motivated by radical Islamism.
“I am your voice”, Trump said.
Thousands of Republican delegates were on their feet for most of Trump’s almost hour-long speech. “U-S-A! U-S-A!” and Trump went off-script by chanting along with them. She was a big hit among the delegates.
“He is color blind and gender neutral, he hires the best person for the job”. “She is their puppet, and they pull the strings”. Trump’s isolationist approach, bombastic rhetoric and ignorance of issues are not things we can be proud to support.
He stuck to the controversial proposals of his primary campaign, including building a wall along the entire U.S. -Mexico border and suspending immigration from nations “compromised by terrorism”.
The last remaining option is an extreme option: Vote for Hillary Clinton. He mentioned Clinton’s primary challenger twice in his speech, painting him as a candidate cheated by the political process.
There were also nods at Trump attempting to broaden his appeal to a general electorate, while still hewing closely to the principles that won him the nomination. Along with the other Trump kids, she’s played a role in her father’s choice of a running mate, including meeting with the contenders behind closed doors. “It’s a powerful combination”, Steel said.
Trump closed his speech with an invocation of his campaign slogan. “I’m not sure what statistics you’re talking about”, Manafort said. We will make America proud again.
