Now his name is (officially) Michael Caine
He says that he has made a decision to legally take his screen name because of the increased intensity of airport security following the rise of so-called Islamic State.

Now all that has changed.
The 83-year-old British actor was born Maurice Micklewhite, and that is the name that was on his passport.
‘I changed my name when all the stuff started with ISIS and all that, ‘ he told the Sun.
Michael Caine has stopped using his real name of Maurice Micklewhite after one too many delays at airport security and will now officially go by the screen name he adopted more than 60 years ago.
“I could stand there for an hour”.
Mr Caine, who has starred in blockbuster movies including The Dark Knight, The Italian Job, Get Carter and Zulu, said his agant lined up an audition but told him he could “not be Michael White”.
And while the veteran actor is famed for the catchphrase: “My name is Michael Caine”.
Caine chose his stage name, he once said, because Humphrey Bogart was his favorite actor, and when he needed to settle on a professional moniker, Bogart’s film “The Caine Mutiny” had just been released.
Meanwhile, Caine – who has featured in over 115 films and been nominated for an Oscar six times – has admitted he rehearses every line of his scripts 1,000 times to ensure he is word ideal before stepping on to the set.
