Death toll in Munich mall shooting rises to eight
The shooter or shooters escaped on the subway, and police reportedly remain in pursuit.

A video posted on social media appeared to show a man dressed in black walking away from the McDonald’s while firing repeatedly on a group of people, screaming as they fled. Public transportation was shut down but reopened early Saturday morning.

Donald Trump gave an uncharacteristically subdued response Friday to the shooting rampage in Munich, Germany, offering his prayers to the victims.
The shooting started in a fast-food restaurant at 5.52pm on Friday, according to initial police accounts. “Then there was panic, and people ran out”, one woman told Bavarian public television. Five guerrillas and a police officer were also killed. “It is not clear whether is one or many shooters”.
The OEZ shopping centre was surrounded by armed police who were hunting for the attacker, while a helicopter flew overhead. She said when he opened fire, the gunman had his back to her.
“We still do not know all of the facts, but we do know that this heinous act has killed and injured multiple individuals in the heart of one of Europe’s most vibrant cities”, the White House said in a statement as the death toll rose.
“I was lucky because he shot toward the other directions not mine”, she said, speaking from a hiding spot inside a storage room.
Authorities are evacuating people from the Olympia mall but many others are still hiding inside.
The city has been placed under a state of emergency and transport suspended as police continue search operations. “No police have approached us yet”.
Eight people have been confirmed dead.
This is the second attack in Germany in less than a week.
The teenager, who has not been named, had lived in the city “for a while” before opening fire on shoppers at the Einkaufszentrum shopping centre in the south German city on Friday evening.
The country has been on high alert since Monday when a man with an ax attacked passengers on a train in northern Bavaria. All survived, although one man from the train remains in life-threatening condition. Police shot and killed him in a confrontation.

The Republican nominee’s response also contrasts with comments he made in the immediate aftermath of the terror attacks in France, where he said he would seek a declaration of war against ISIS, and his remarks after the nightclub shooting in Orlando, in which he took credit “for being right on radical Islamic terrorism”.
