RNC 2016: Mike Pence makes the grade
Fox News Headline: “Why Mike Pence Is A Gutsy Choice For Trump”. That, Gingrich said, could only mean Trump-Pence.

In fact, improving Indiana’s roads wasn’t a priority of Pence’s until it became a liability: a monthlong traffic snarl caused when an Interstate 65 bridge was closed last August for emergency repairs.
The vice presidential nominee painted Trump as a champion of working people in the United States, of the service personnel who protect America overseas, and the law enforcement officers on the “thin blue line”. “She’s very smart and has a major chance to be our next president”. “He’s entitled to make a mistake every once in a while”, Trump said.
“Everyone here today I hope will leave this convention, will leave that floor tonight, will leave this city tomorrow, more determined than ever to change the direction of our nation back to strength at home and overseas by electing Donald Trump”, he said.
The night before, Pence introduced himself in familiar terms as a “Christian, conservative and Republican in that order”.
He said that the former secretary of state seeks a new title, that of “secretary of status quo”. The FactCheck.org website took issue with Trump “overselling” the uniqueness of Indiana’s gains, but took no issue with the numbers.
The Indianapolis Star has reported that the state has a budget surplus well over billion. “We’re going to win OH, we’re going to win it all”.
This caucus in “tossup” territory, with Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb a nominal favorite based on the “next man up” sentiment.
“My fellow Americans, I believe we have come to another rendezvous with destiny, and I have faith-faith in the boundless capacity of the American people and faith that God can still heal our land”, Pence told a roaring crowd at the Republican convention in Cleveland.
Holcomb is one of four candidates vying to replace Pence on the ballot, along with U.S. Representatives Susan Brooks and Todd Rokita and State Sen.
“This is something that will go down in Indiana history”, said Indiana GOP Chairman Jeff Cardwell. This, in a state which has never had a female governor. The most important point to make here though is that there is only one item on that list that the governor backed away from after his mismanagement of them was clear.
He acknowledged some Republicans reluctance with Trump, but said, “this election is not about Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, it’s not you or me”.
There have been moments in Cleveland on Tuesday where Brooks, Holcomb and Rokita were circulating, along with Cardwell, who hasn’t pulled the trigger, vowing to create a “level playing field” that ultimately may preclude his entry.
In thanking Pence for the endorsement, Holcomb says, as governor, he’d strive to continue the successes of Mitch Daniels and Mike Pence. While Pence’s office won’t comment on political affairs, referring me to his campaign, which appears to be suspended as key figures have moved to Trump Inc., at least one highly influential Republican who spoke on background says that Pence will give his $7 million campaign war chest to the new nominee.

“I grant you, he can be a little rough on politicians on the stage, and I bet we see that again”.
