Rihanna work, work, work, work, work, works her way into Bates Motel. In addition to the fact that the Psycho prequel series is winding down, Rihanna is joining the cast to bring this thing home in the iconic role of Marion Crane.
“Hello Comic-Con! It’s bad girl Rih Rih and let me tell you what the bad b*tch is about to do”. “Guess what else? Guess who’s playing Marion!”
The Barbadian singer is now on tour for her “Anti” album with dates this weekend in France.
It’s a lot to take in, but you have a while to process it. Bates Motel won’t return until 2017. Marion goes on the run with a wealthy man’s money and is later murdered in the shower by Norman Bates in one of the most iconic horror movie scenes of all time. Moreover, Farmiga will be an executive producer on this fifth and final season while co-star Max Thieriot will make his directorial debut, Nestor Carbonell will direct his third episode, and Highmore will write his second episode. “We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the flawless collision of creativity and fate”, said executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin in a statement. (Spoilers ahead.) The final two episodes of season four ended with the long-awaited death of star and Emmy nominee Vera Farmiga’s Norma Bates, setting the stage for season five to explore Norman’s (Freddie Highmore) continued spiral to insanity.
