Pokemon GO is launched in Japan as bosses warn of safety fears
In France, where the game is still supposedly unavailable, police have already tweeted advice to Pokemon ” trainers”, including: “Do not play Pokemon Go while driving” and “Pedestrians – take extra care”. The videogame giant’s stock at one stage had more than doubled from its July 5 close, sending its market value soaring as investors saw the app’s popularity as positive for the company’s mobile gaming strategy.
People gaze at their smartphones as they play “Pokemon Go” at Akihabara district in Tokyo, Friday, July 22, 2016. This, of course, seems to be a result of the increased string of incidents and crimes that players have been subject to since Pokemon GO launched.
In other words, the app allows players to search for Pokemon and submit their findings when they run across Pokemon anywhere in the world.
They teamed up with McDonald’s Japan for the launch, with the company’s almost 3,000 fast food outlets across Japan serving as spots where Pokemon could be battled or trained – albeit with a very Japanese caveat.
The game was created by Nintendo, Niantic and Pokemon Co, part-owned by Nintendo. It is unclear when Pokemon Go will be released in China and South Korea, where access to geographical data necessary for the game is restricted by the government.
Pokemon Go is now managing to keep players invested in it despite these glaring issues, though it’s only a matter of time before people eventually grow exhausted of the copious server crashes and bugs littering the game.
Even with the delay of Pokemon GO Japan, we can expect McDonald’s and Niantic to easily benefit from its partnership. In the USA, it is now considered as the biggest mobile game ever earning $14 million in the first week and getting 21 million players.

Amid widespread anticipation before the official release, the government issued a rare safety guide warning over dangers gamers could face, from heat stroke to online scams.
