Mehbooba Mufti meets families affected by Kashmir violence

An official spokesman said the meeting took note of the empathy and sense of solidarity with the people of J and K reflected during the debate on the prevailing situation in the State in both Houses of Parliament.

Muzaffarabad based Kashmiri militant commander Syed Salad-bean has welcomed the Hurriyat’s stand and appreciated its efforts to set a new bench mark in civilian casualty figures and said that his fighters would go out of their way to help.

He urged that the problem should not be taken or examined in isolation.

Mufti reached out to all political parties, urging them to use their “good offices” to help resolve the crisis. “If that happens, I am afraid, there will be bigger troubles ahead”, Tarigami said.

After the all-party meeting earlier in the day, Mehbooba visited Anantnag in the evening to offer personal condolences to the families of youth killed in the street violence.

“She felt heartfelt grief and sorrow over the loss of their near ones and expressed her sympathies with them”, Bukhari told IANS. Ms. Mufti called for “taking all stakeholders onboard” and “reviving dialogue process with Pakistan”.

Divulging details of the meeting, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar said, “Every participant and participating party have expressed their views on the current situation and the reasons behind such flare-ups which have been happening unfortunately since last so many years, after five years, six years, eight years”.

The Chief Minister, the spokesman said, interacted with the parents of the deceased youth and said she was pained to see the trauma they are undergoing due to the loss of their near and dear ones.

The Chief Minister said the State Government would act as a facilitator for resolving the problems and challenges confronting Jammu and Kashmir if tangible steps are taken to reach out to all the stakeholders. This cruel method of crowd control will have to be done away with.
