Meanwhile, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her deputy Rahul Gandhi will flag off a mega three-day road show by the slogan “27 saal, UP behaal” from the Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday.
Rahul Gandhi is set to meet 50,000 party workers in Lucknow next week while Sonia Gandhi will hold a roadshow in Varanasi, which is PM Modi’s constituency.
In these two states, the party has planned high-voltage campaigns, especially in UP, where the debate on whether or not Priyanka Gandhi will campaign outside of Gandhi bastions has had everybody’s attention.
The Congress released a list of campaign incharges for all 18 divisions of Uttar Pradesh, including Harender Malik for Saharanpur, Harshvardhan Valmiki for Agra, Hasan Arif Ansari for Aligarh, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi for Allahabad and Ram Bachan Dhuria for Azamgarh. Through this yatra, Congress aims to highlight failures of Samajwadi Party government and other successive governments in the past 27 years in Uttar Pradesh.
There will be 27 more bus yatras in the next 45-60 days.
It will then travel to Shahjahanpur, Rampur and Bareilly and on the third day it will cover Hardoi, Kannauj and finally end the yatra at Kanpur.
Tripathi said that the road show would have leaders like AICC general secretary and in-charge of UP Gulam Nabi Azad, UPCC chief Raj Babbar, CM face Sheila Dixit, campaign committee chairman Dr Sanjay Singh and other senior leaders.
