“Today in New York City I accepted Donald Trump’s invitation to run and serve as vice president”, Pence said.

Donald Trump accuses Hillary Clinton of being responsible for the rise of ISIS in an interview with “60 Minutes”.

John McCormack of The Weekly Standard wrote Sunday that he overheard a conversation that Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort had with an unknown person that confirmed Christie’s hurt feelings.

“One of the biggest reasons I’ve chosen Mike, one of the reasons is party unity, I have to be honest”, said Trump at a rally in NY.

Christie, who has led Trump’s transition team since May, said any talk of a role for him in a Trump cabinet was premature.

Meeting Trump and his family was an important part of the selection process, Pence says, and as a result he was able to vouch for them to the people of Indiana.

Throughout his presidential campaign Donald Trump has relentlessly criticized Hillary Clinton’s vote to authorize the Iraq War.

“Mike Pence is a great guy”, Christie said.

The lack of support has Trump’s backers in New Jersey seeing red.

TRUMP: I love what he just said.

But even as Pence said the men have plenty in common and Trump insisted they have “very, very good chemistry”, some political observers said their interaction appeared forced.

Pence now will pursue dual missions – serving as Indiana’s governor and Trump’s running mate.

The joint appearance was meant to catapult the party toward a successful and unified Republican National Convention, which kicks off in Cleveland on Monday.

“This was a politician and the Republican nominee-however you want to characterize him- sitting together in an interview”, Rothenberg said.

Pence is then seen leaning toward Trump, who waves his hand and tells him, “You could say yes”. And he will have to be ready for a litany of questions about Trump’s provocative proposals, at least one of which – his call to ban Muslim immigration – Pence has condemned.

But Pence on Sunday said he was fine with Trump’s style of campaigning.

Pence, standing alone in front of ten American flags, hewed closely to the populist themes that Trump has voiced on the campaign trail, describing himself as “really just a small-town boy”. Only briefly in that time did he acknowledge the objective of the event, the crisp haircut awaiting his introduction: “Mike Pence was my first choice”, he insisted.
