How Hillary Clinton chose Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine as her VP
Campaign chairman John Podesta delivered 24 binders with information on potential candidates to Clinton’s home outside of New York City in an unassuming a plastic bag from Duane Reade, a New York pharmacy.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has named Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her vice presidential running mate.
Mr. Kaine, a self-described “boring” Virginian, reportedly has a reputation for low-key competence, appealing to both independents and moderates. He was considered for the VP position during the Obama campaign in 2008, and afterwards he led the Democratic National Convention from 2009 to 2011. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was said to have been on her shortlist.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has selected Virginia Sen. Clinton’s admitted she isn’t a strong retail politician, while Kaine has managed to win statewide in Virginia twice.
Here are four reasons why progressive groups are unhappy with Kaine as the new vice presidential nominee. He has never lost an election. He then was elected the city’s mayor, was elected lieutenant governor for the state of Virginia in 2002, and assumed the governorship in 2006.
The Clinton campaign watched the closing day of the Republican convention with great interest, particularly Trump’s acceptance speech, in part to gauge the best timing of her announcement.
Martin goes on to laud Kaine as a “dedicated public servant”.
Clinton is expected to end the guessing game soon and could introduce her choice as soon as Friday.
“Do you want a “you’re fired” president or a “you’re hired” president?”
Kaine tweeted tonight: “Just got off the phone with Hillary”.
The pick, she said, cements Clinton’s bona fides as a leader with sound judgment. “Can’t wait to hit the trail tomorrow in Miami!” Critics of the deal, including Trump and Sanders, say it would be unfair to USA workers and kill jobs. “Together, Secretary Clinton and Sen”.
“Republicans will run hard against Democrats on trade this year”.
Kaine is seen by many as a safe and experienced candidate.
“I strongly support the right of women to make their own health and reproductive decisions and, for that reason, will oppose efforts to weaken or subvert the basic holding of Roe v. Wade”.
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) is pleased with Clinton’s choice. “If you think Crooked Hillary and Corrupt Kaine are going to change anything in Washington, it’s just the opposite”. “Drawing a blank. Congrats to a good man and a good friend”, he tweeted.
Tim Kaine is indeed a popular face in Virginia politics. “He will fight tooth and nail for American families, and he’ll be a dogged fighter in our campaign against Donald Trump and Mike Pence”, the 68-year-old former secretary of state said.

Here’s some background about the Virginia senator. “He’s a solid guy, someone that’s a good thinker. Slow down, people. You have at least 109 more days to make them”, wrote Twitter user Debsplaining. Obama’s camp ultimately picked Joe Biden.
