Van Gaal admitted United have “problems” with De Gea, who has been unable to “manage his situation”, according to the Dutchman. Real Madrid are convinced that Van Gaal wants to sell the player.
“The last two years he was nominated by the fans as the best player at the club”.
Van Gaal hinted that he may not pick De Gea until the transfer window closes at the start of next month and praised Argentina global Romero for his impressive debut performance. That was not the David De Gea – and he felt the same – of previous year.

With both sides sporting new players today always had the chance of being played at more of a training ground than Premier League pace and for many minutes, and throughout the game it certainly did just that. We were unlucky because we conceded a goal through our first mistake.
De Gea was replaced by Sergio Romero for United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday and watched from the stands as his teammate impressed between the posts with a number of late saves. That means we develop our cohesion, our passing game.

United were marginally better after the break as they initially played with more intensity and goal, although with Young and Mata largely stifled out wide, they struggled to create clear-cut chances.
