The one bright spot that has emerged from all the pain their affair caused for so many is John and Rielle’s now 8-year-old daughter Quinn, who Rielle calls the “love of my life and the light of my life”.

Back in 2006, while traveling the country, vying for the democratic presidential nomination, then-North Carolina Senator John Edwards began an affair with Rielle Hunter. I absolutely love him.

Rielle first made headlines back in 2007, when reports surfaced that John was having an extramarital affair on his wife Elizabeth Edwards, who was fighting breast cancer at the time.

Elizabeth Edwards died in 2010 after a six-year battle with breast cancer. “We get along great”.

“He loves her so much it’s cute”, she said.

Quinn, now 8, who appeared beside her mother in the interview, told Robach she sees her father “as often as I can”. “He gets very choked up by her, it’s sweet”, she said.

Though the U.S. Senator initially denied the claims, Hunter gave birth to their daughter in 2008 while Edwards was on the campaign trail to be the next Democratic nominee.

Hunter said she and Edwards have been open with Quinn about how she came to be in the world.

Now, Rielle and Quinn have teamed up on a new children’s book called “Howie Do It – Finding Happiness Right Now”. Hunter rode as a child and her daughter is following in her footsteps. “And not to be hard on myself”.

Hunter says the worst part of the affair’s fallout was being subjected to “meanness”. And she said she acknowledges making mistakes in life and takes responsibility for them. “And great co-parents”, Hunter said.

She then leaned over to her daughter and said “We’re with her”.
