Chief Mayawati was charged with criminal conspiracy, intimidation and promoting enmity by former BJP leader Dayashankar Singh’s family.
Yesterday, in the Parliament, Mayawati had said that “These kind of derogatory statements show that BJP is frustrated with the growing public support for BSP”.
Leader of the House Arun Jaitley got up to express regret saying the remarks were highly condemnable but Mayawati was not convinced and demanded that he be expelled from the party and strong action taken against him.
All district units of the party have been asked to stage demonstrations under the banner of ‘Beti Ke Samman Mein, Bhajpa Maidan Mein, ‘ meaning ‘For honour of a daughter, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on the streets’.
Though the issues of exploitation by anti-social elements in Gujarat was raised by Ms. Mayawati, the government has failed to take any action against those involved in violence against Dalits, he added.
Speaking a function here where he felicitated the scholars, Akhilesh said that a competition has started between the BJP and BSP as to who can speak more and who can use more foul language.
Time will tell whether the slur on Mayawati will propel her to office in India’s largest state.
She said after the sloganeering during the protest, Singh’s 12-year-old daughter was in shock.

Earlier, lamenting over the abuse which she and her daughter have been facing following the expulsion of her husband Dayashankar Singh from BJP, his wife Swati Singh has accused the BSP members of “traumatizing” their minor daughter. This was quickly followed by registering a FIR against Dayashankar Singh under sections 153A, 504,509 IPC and 310 of the SC/ST act. Party workers also broke police barricades and shouted slogans against the BJP while burning Singh’s effigies.
