“These are all things that lead to success and when you look at Arsenal over the last four or five years, there’s no question that the squad has been progressing in strength”.
While Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has told the media that the transfer window is not the end all be all for the club. “If we find the right candidates then we will spend the big money”, Wenger said following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Lens in their first pre-season friendly, as quoted on Arsenal’s official site.

Arsenal are now linked with a number of big-name strikers, including Gonzalo Higuain, Alexandre Lacazette and Mauro Icardi, but Wenger refused to say which player he was most interested in. And while Wenger insists Arsenal are “very active” in their attempts to add to their squad, he has urged fans to be patient as they try to get deals over the line.
