But Kaine is an ally, having endorsed Clinton early on in the campaign.

But Mr Kaine’s strong ties to Virginia, a crucial general election battleground, and his foreign policy experience gave him the edge, according to a campaign source.
“Donald Trump trash-talks women, he trash-talks folks with disabilities, he trash talks Latinos – to him it doesn’t matter”, Kaine said at a campaign appearance in Annandale, with Clinton nodding next to him.
Republican nominee Donald Trump has called for deporting 11 million undocumented immigrants and banning Muslims from entering the U.S. He has vowed to nominate Supreme Court justices committed to overturning abortion rights and same-sex marriage.
Trump, in a text to his own supporters, said Obama, Clinton and Kaine were “the ultimate insiders” and implored voters to not “let Obama have a 3rd term”.
Virginia, in addition to the swing State status, is also one of those States that was relatively unscathed by the 2006 economic recession.
It wasn’t an easy decision. Jeff Yarbro, D-Nashville, said Clinton’s pick reassures the country that she is focused on actually leading the country.
Clinton was weighing two finalists: Kaine and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, a longtime friend of the candidate and former President Bill Clinton.
As a senator, Kaine called for tougher background checks on gun ownership and supported a “fast track” of free trade agreements, which Clinton’s formal rival Bernie Sanders criticized to great effect during the Democratic primary race. The information on potential running mates was delivered in a bag from Duane Reed, a NY drug store.
They considered the difficulties the Trump campaign had balancing the announcement of his running mate, Mike Pence, with the Nice attack, to show he could not recognize the significance of what was happening in France.
Clinton’s team maintained a tight control over the information.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is set to fight for the USA presidency against Donald Trump.
Hillary Clinton picked Virginia Sen.
Kaine’s real name is Timothy Michael Kaine. Just hours before his selection, he professed that he didn’t know where things stood. Cory Booker and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren of MA and Labor Secretary Tom Perez.
Clinton campaigned for Vilsack in his 1998 comeback victory as Iowa governor and later stood by her through her hard 2008 presidential campaign. Together they have three children.
With almost three years of experience in the Senate under his belt, Kaine has beefed up his foreign policy credentials.
Kaine won election to the Senate four years ago after serving as the chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
Clinton’s pick of Tim Kaine as a running mate has several political implications.
Politically a middle-of-the-road Democrat, he is also seen as helping the former secretary of state win over votes from reluctant independent male voters.
Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar told CNN that she thought Kaine was an excellent choice because of his experience, temperament and bipartisan appeal.

“I’m thrilled to announce my running mate, Tim Kaine, a man who’s devoted his life to fighting for others”, Clinton announced on Twitter yesterday night, days ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
