First Lady Michelle Obama Joins James Corden for ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Who knows what will happen in November, and what a First Lady Melania Trump or First Dude Bill Clinton will sing when it’s their turn in Corden’s hot seat. She and Corden began with a soulful rendition of Stevie Wonder’s Sign, Sealed, Delivered before reminding the world of moves to the Single Ladies dance. Viewers probably got the most kicks out of seeing Michele Obama singing Missy’s hit’s lyrics “copywritten so don’t copy me, y’all do it sloppy-ly”.

It’s been nearly eight years since Michelle Obama was able to sit in a passenger seat and sing along to the radio, so it’s a good thing James Corden stopped by the White House recently.

James Corden welcomed an extra special Carpool Karaoke participate Wednesday (July 20) in the form of first lady Michelle Obama.

“We were makin’ honey to put in our Lemonade“, she laughed, before explaining why she recently got on SnapChat.

They were later joined by rapper Missy Elliott for a performance of her song “This Is For My Girls”, which was released in 2016, and written and recorded for Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative.

Then it was time for “This Is For My Girls”, a “girl power anthem” meant to promote full access to education worldwide.

To wrap up the karaoke session, Obama, Corden and Elliot threw it back to Elliot’s “Get Your Freak On”. She casually quipped: “Hey there, I hear you’re here for a 1.45 tour, and I had a little time on my hands”. Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, One Direction and Adele among others but the First Lady is undoubtedly at the top from all of them.
